Diabetes and its involvement in oral diseases

Diabetes is a metabolic disease of high prevalence and high morbidity, so preventive measures for complications and control of the disease are essential. The objectives are: a) to differentiate the pathogenic pathways involved in type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus; b) to understand the complications of diabetes in general and at the oral level; c) to review the association between diabetes and periodontal disease.
